Watch Make America Laugh and Sing Again 2020

On February 27, 2020, we came together with friends to put on a show to lift spirits and raise money for CommonCause.org. Thank you all who came to support our sold-out show!

Video Highlights from Make America Laugh and Sing Again 2020

My Night in Jail

As I walked home from rehearsal one night in the East Village, I was arrested for putting up a small poster to promote the upcoming run of my popular parody self-help lecture, 7 1/2 Habits of Highly Effective Mistresses, the musical. This "wildly entertaining" comic monologue was the result.

Presented as part of Make America Laugh and Sing Again.

I Cannot Get Enough

Ellen Mandel and I created "I Cannot Get Enough" originally for our sold-out show 7 1/2 Habits of Highly Effective Mistresses. But after I was sued for the parody by the FranklinCovey Corporation for trademark infringement of "7 Habits of Highly Effective People," we took the best material and created a new show Savvy Secrets of Successful Mistresses, the musical.

We keep the song topical, updating the lyrics with the latest news events. This version was created for Make America Laugh and Sing Again.

Words by Lisa Faith Phillips and Ellen Mandel, music by Ellen Mandel

Smile When You Say Goodbye

With the marvelous Ellen Mandel on piano, the show ended with her terrific song "Smile When You Say Goodbye" performed by Ellen and Stan Baker, Mariah Bonner, Michael Lydon and Lisa Faith Phillips.

Mariah Bonner on developing her cabaret show

When I first saw Mariah singing in a play, I was captivated and suggested that cabaret might be a wonderful way to share her gifts as an entertainer. Here Mariah talks about developing her first cabaret show, "A Natural Woman", at The Gardenia Room in Los Angeles in 2015. It's a joy to watch her soar!

Natalie Smith sings the haunting Greenwood Tree at Rockwood
