“Outrageously funny…devilishly clever and wildly entertaining”
Carolyn Smith, Newyorkcool
I'm thrilled to have special guest Deanna Kirk join us for our new Gershwin show!
We'll dish up stories of George Gershwin’s rich love life against the backdrop of his great love songs in this “wildly entertaining” show with the marvelous John Di Martino on piano.
Join us as award-winning writer and performer Lisa Faith Phillips weaves funny and touching tales of George Gershwin’s love affairs and the songs they inspired. From the adorable Adele Astaire, Broadway star and Fred’s sister, to married composer Kay Swift, and his last love Paulette Goddard, Charlie Chaplin’s wife, and many others (often at the same time), women and men found him irresistible. All the while his shy, retiring brother Ira transformed George’s escapades into clever lyrics, blending perfectly with his unforgettable melodies, to create some of the great love songs of the American Songbook. I am thrilled to have the amazing John Di Martino on piano.
Please join us at Pangea, the charming East Village cabaret, for laughter, song and revelations!

"A treasure trove…Phillips mixes absurdism and social satire to hilarious results…Onstage she is a force of nature and bubbly wit….She can still shake and shimmy with the best of them, look damn good doing it, and simultaneously dispense valuable wisdom…” - Jamie Lubin, The Huffington Post
"Hilarious autobiographical one-woman show performed and written by Lisa Faith Phillips….the imagery in her words is vivid, real and funny. The stage is decorated with nothing but her but this is enough…. Phillips is an incredible storyteller and her show is fascinating to watch and to listen to. "I thought this performer was outrageously funny and successfully cunning. Devilishly clever and wildly entertaining….every line demanded a boisterous laugh. She exudes inherent fun like a bottle of champagne. Uplifting and unpredictable, Lisa Faith Phillips should have delivered the damn State of the Union Address this year." - Carolyn Smith, Newyorkcool.com
