We're bringing Version 1.2 of Bewitched: The Songs and Loves of Rodgers & Hart, weaving funny and touching tales of their lives, loves and songs, with divine singer Deanna Kirk and brilliant John Di Martino on piano.
Rodgers was just 16 when he met and began to write songs with witty lyricist Lorenz Hart. They had their first hit with Manhattan in 1925 and went on to write 28 musicals and over 500 songs, including Bewitched, The Lady is a Tramp and My Funny Valentine.
The handsome composer Dick Rodgers loved the ladies, including his wife Dorothy, who dropped out of Wellesley College to marry him at 21. However, Larry Hart, barely five feet tall with an unusually large head, charmed with wit and energy but struggled to find love as he hid his then illegal homosexuality. Heavy drinking led to the deterioration of his collaboration with Rodgers and Larry’s early death at just 48.
